Selim Earls
With 11 years of experience as a Teacher and Translator in Greece and 30 years as a Conference Interpreter working into English and Greek at the European Commission, I have a thorough professional knowledge of modern Greek language and culture.
My teaching activity includes several intensive courses in Modern Greek for interpreters at the European Commission, as well as 11 years of teaching language and interpretation at the University of Louvain in Belgium. Since 2025, I have taught Greek at every level at Hellenic College Holy Cross in Boston. My teaching method is based on communication and students’ questions and focuses on sparking their interest and desire for discovery.
I hold a BA in the Language and History of Modern China from the University of Pennsylvania, an MA in Conference Interpretation from the University of La Laguna in Spain, as well as an MA in Interpreter Training from the University of Geneva. I have also nearly completed a PhD in Linguistics and Translation at the University of Louvain in Belgium, with research on Syntactic difficulty in translation and interpretation.
I also hold the European Eurolta 2 Diploma in Teaching Modern Greek to Adults.
